The welding process is to be considered a special activity with significant peculiarities related to the manual skill and the equipment in use, which require continuous checks and verifications to ensure the required results are achieved.
The first essential pillar is that welding activities must be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with current standards such as UNI EN ISO 9606. The qualified welder carries out the activity respecting the tolerance limits present in the WPS, thus ensuring repeatability in the execution of a welded joint and guaranteeing high quality levels in terms of mechanical and chemical characteristics.
The standard IEC 60974-14 details the requirements to be adopted for the verification of arc welding and calibration equipment and indicates the annual periodicity of these verifications to which all users, companies or individual operators, who carry out welding in various sectors such as water, gas, structural, etc., must adhere.
Companies with certified management systems in accordance with standards ISO9001 EN 1090, EN3834, EN 15085 and NADCAP are obliged to establish a methodical verification system for welding machines; the entry into force of this regulation means that welding machine calibrations are no longer carried out using an ammeter clamp but by using equipment that allows the parameters required by the regulation itself to be detected with the use of a static load and a primary instrument connected to it.
To maintain confidence in your welding machine, comply with state-of-the-art requirements, and ensure equipment efficiency, it is mandatory to carry out the annual verification of welding machines at Centers that operate in line with the international standard for calibrations.
TTR Institute SRL is accredited according to ISO17025 and is able to meet the stringent requirements requested by the applicable reference standards.
At the end of the inspection, TTR issues a verification report in accordance with standard IEC 60974-14 and compliant with all metrological requirements, as it is carried out with specific equipment, with mandatory functional characteristics and metrological validity for this activity.
The welding process is considered a special activity that requires continuous monitoring of the equipment used. The IEC 60974-14 standard defines the requirements for the verification of arc welding equipment and establishes annual verification periodicity, in order to ensure accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.
All users, companies or individual operators, who carry out welding activities in the water, gas, structural and related sectors must adhere to the verification frequency provided by the standard. In particular, companies with management systems certified according to ISO 9001, EN 1090, EN 3834, EN 15085, and NADCAP are obliged to establish a methodical system for the verification of welding machines.
Welder calibrations can no longer be performed using an ammeter clamp, but must be carried out using specific instrumentation capable of detecting the parameters required by standard IEC 60974-14, through the use of a static load and a connected primary instrument.
TTR Institute is accredited according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and performs checks with compliant and metrologically valid instrumentation. At the end of the inspection, a verification report compliant with the IEC 60974-14 standard is issued, attesting to compliance with the expected metrological and functional requirements.
